Drinktec 2017 returns to Munich

Taking place every four years, Drinktec 2017 is returning to Munich, Germany, from 11-15 September, boasting its highest ever participation figures.

The trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry will see around 1,600 exhibitors travel to Messe Munchen. The exhibitors represent the entire process chain: from the manufacture, filling and packaging of beverages and liquid food through to marketing with raw materials, beverage ingredients and logistics solutions included. The total hall space has risen to over 150,000 square metres.

Around 70,000 trade visitors from all over the world and from all areas of the beverages industry will be coming to Drinktec 2017, with around two thirds coming from outside Germany. The fair also addresses the entire industry with trade professionals from the soft drinks, fruit juice and brewing industries, mineral water producers, dairies, the wine and sparkling wine segment, from the spirits industry and from beverages and wholesale and retail businesses. Employees from manufacturing and production make up the biggest proportion of visitors, closely followed by plant managers and CEOs.

For the first time the fair has joined forces with leading international trade fair for winemaking and bottling technology SIMEI. The spectrum of products and technologies on show at Drinktec is therefore now expanded to include all areas of wine technology. SIMEI will have its own dedicated area in halls C2 and C3.

Also making its debut is trade fair for the German specialist trade in beverages and convenience products Pro Fachhandel. This will provide an opportunity for international beverage manufacturers attending Drinktec as visitors to find the right trading partners for their entry into the German market.

The key themes at Drinktec 2017 are:

  • Energy and resource efficiency
  • Water and energy management
  • Hygiene and product safety
  • Process optimisation/flexibility.

Other highlights include the Innovation Flow Lounge (IFL), which is taking on a new concept this year with experts discussing topical themes of importance for the future of the industry in the areas of product innovation. The Drinktec Forum will be situated in hall A2 and is dedicated on all five days of the fair to key issues affecting the future of the sector. After celebrating a successful premiere at Drinktec 2013, place2beer will also be returning to hall B1 acting as the key meeting place for brewers and those involved in the beer industry to share ideas and opinions.
