Happy days

Date: 08/02/2011

For various reasons, I’m a happy little blogger this week. Not that I’m ever really unhappy, you understand. Apart from when I’m forced to horsewhip my nine-year-old son into doing his homework, that is. Oh, and also when I have to remind my four-year-old that climbing into Mummy’s bed in the morning with the sole intention of breaking wind is nowhere near as much fun for me as it is for him.

Anyway, I digress (don’t I always?) Yes, this week I’m all smiles. And it’s not just because the sun has finally decided to dust off its moth-eaten hat. The reason for my jollity is, in fact, the revelation that you guys out there actually enjoy reading my weekly ramblings.

“Your blog is sooooo popular with advertisers,” trilled sales manager Gina down the phone. Although I rather wished she hadn’t sounded quite so incredulous. “Yes,” she gasped, by now rather breathless with excitement. “And people want to advertise on it.”

“That’s great news,” I replied. “Maybe we should get it sponsored.”

And that, dear friends, has set me thinking. Who would be most appropriate to sponsor my blog? (Anyone who suggests Alcoholics Anonymous will be immediately removed from my Christmas card list!) All sensible suggestions (written on the back of a £20 note, please) will be gratefully received…
