'Positive outlook' for global packaged food market
Date: 15/02/2012
The global packaged food market proved admirably resilient in 2011, despite persistent economic uncertainty, according to a new report. And while it remains to be seen how the market will fare in 2012, the outlook remains broadly positive, says Euromonitor report Opportunities and Challenges for Global Packaged Food in 2012.
“From the supply side, food input prices should continue falling for most of 2012, supporting manufacturers’ margins and driving innovation,” observes Lee Linthicum, head of food research at Euromonitor. “Developing markets will remain all important to growth, but food producers must focus stringently on food safety and quality control, not least in the most lucrative prize of all – China.”
