Premier Foods boss to stand down

The chief executive of Premier Foods has announced that he is to stand down.
Gavin Darby will leave the company in January after six years in the top job. The news comes just months after an attempt from the largest investor in the company to oust him. It also coincides with the company revealing that it had begun discussions with potential buyers for its Ambrosia custards and rice pudding products.

Darby, 62, says his decision to quit was not as a result of pressure from major investor Oasis Management, and that he intends to stay within the industry.A spokesman for Oasis welcomed news of Darby’s departure.
