Unilever muscles in on Horlicks nutrition business

Unilever has this week announced that it is acquiring GSK’s Indian Horlicks nutrition business, seeing off its main rival for the deal, Nestlé.

The acquisition will strengthen Unilever’s position in India, an emerging market whose rising population and growing wealth make it an attractive long-term proposition for companies trying to offset poor growth in Western markets.

Unilever’s share of the total deal price is 3.3 billion euros.
