Tea deal

First Great Western and Tregothnan have announced a new partnership that will see one million bags of Cornwall’s Tregothnan tea brewed on First Great Western services in the UK over the next year. The deal will see the rail company become one of the plantation’s largest customers.

By choosing the British-grown, blended and packed tea, First Great Western has helped recruit six new employees in propagating, horticulture, guest services, website and social media, processing, blending and packing at Tregothnan, contributing to the company’s expected growth of 60 per cent this year.

Jo Elliot, head of customer engagement at First Great Western, says, “We are thrilled to be working with yet another local supplier to bring quality, homegrown produce to our passengers. The most British brew in history can now be enjoyed in one of the most British of settings, the classic comfort of a train.”

The tea will be available for passengers to enjoy from First Great Western’s Express Café, Night Riviera Sleeper Café and the Pullman from late October.
