Why I’m with the ginger whingers

This week’s ‘You Couldn’t Make It Up’ award goes to the bakery in Yorkshire now selling gender neutral ‘gingerbread persons’. I thought they were pretty gender neutral anyway – or at least genitally challenged (is that even a thing?)

Anyway, the cynical side of me is willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for what I’m assuming some bright spark thought would be a brilliant PR coup for the bakery. But judging by the outrage and indignation on social media, I’m pretty sure the old adage ‘there’s no such thing as bad publicity’ doesn’t hold true in this case.

But that aside, doesn’t this raise more serious issues for the industry? What, for example, may become of Pink Lady apples? Pink person, perhaps… And as for okra, otherwise known as ladies’ fingers, I’m open to suggestions on that one.

In the meantime, such madness makes me want to weep into my man-size tissues. Oh, hang on….
