Curry kick for World Cup fans

Derby-based recipe dish manufacturer S&A Foods, in partnership with Asda, is ensuring football fans have enough energy to support England in the 2006 World Cup with the launch of their hottest ever curry, Chicken Phal.

The Chicken Phal curry, will be available from the Indian serve over counter in Asda stores. Made from a combination of red chillies, green chillies and ginger to give the curry its distinctive hot and spicy kick, this dish microwaves in seven minutes and requires no preparation.

Perween Warsi, owner and founder of S&A Foods, said,“With the nation’s love affair of curry and football we felt this was the perfect opportunity to develop and launch our hottest ever curry. We’ve created the curry with a complex blend of spices to create a fuller, more intense flavour and heat which football fans can enjoy when watching the big games.

S&A Foods makes over 160 different recipe dishes for Asda across a range of international cuisines from regional Italian to Chinese, producing over one million dishes every week.

Apparently, Londoners consume the most curry, accounting for 26% of Indian food eaten in the UK, while the South West accounts for just 3%.
