Calbee and Fabcon Food Systems revolutionise snack production with investment in frying

Global snack producer Calbee has invested in new frying, seasoning and distribution machinery for its Deeside plant.

The investment has seen Calbee install a variety of state-of-the-art frying technology, including an indirect heating system, which has been designed, built and installed by industry specialists, Fabcon Food Systems.

The company’s new line can produce fried snacks from pellets or extruded products, with fried products being integrated into an existing seasoning and distribution system which has now been extended, adding further stations.

Platform extensions have also been added to accommodate the new Fabcon-designed horizontal motion and electromagnetic vibratory conveyors.

Daniel Woodwards, managing director of Calbee UK noted how Fabcon Food Systems has been a long-standing, valued partner with a collaborative approach, providing turnkey solutions in consultation with onsite teams, ensures optimal outcomes.

“Fabcon remains the Group’s go-to supplier and we look forward to working with them in our future expansion projects,” Woodwards said.

Trevor Howard, managing director of Fabcon Food Systems added: “Our relationship with Daniel and his team at Calbee Group goes from strength-to-strength and we are delighted with the result of our installation at the company’s Deeside plant.

“Importantly, the new equipment gives Calbee flexibility and will allow them to maintain the high quality of snacks and production they are renowned for. We look forward to working with Calbee in the months and years ahead.”
