Grupo Lantero’s ReKeepEat packaging preserves freshness and reduces waste

Grupo Lantero is launching ReKeepEat, a new package designed to preserve freshness for longer and reduce food waste.
The solution consists of a 100% mono-material PET tray and lid, incorporating advanced resealing technology that allows the package to be opened and closed without losing functionality.
ReKeepEat is a solution from Coexpan and Emsur , companies in the Lantero Group, and was entirely developed at Innotech, its open and collaborative innovation center. The eco-design of this product responds to a dual objective:
“Every decision in ReKeepEat’s design responds to a clear principle: to minimise the use of materials and minimise the environmental impact throughout the product’s entire lifecycle, from manufacturing to recycling,” says Walter Turci, R&D director at Coexpan .
Both the tray and lid are made of PET, an advantage that simplifies the recycling process by avoiding mixing materials, promoting recyclability and contributing to the circular economy. Furthermore, PET allows recycled content to be integrated into the manufacturing process. The result? A simpler consumer experience and more environmentally efficient manufacturing and recycling processes.
In addition to its functionality, ReKeepEat stands out for its versatility: it’s suitable for sliced meats, meats, or prepared dishes, both vacuum-packed and in a modified atmosphere. Its design provides convenience for consumers, allowing them to use more convenient family-sized packages and transport products with ease.
With ReKeepEat , Grupo Lantero reinforces its commitment to the circular economy and responsible innovation. Álvaro Bernard, corporate director of innovation, marketing, and sustainability at Grupo Lantero, defines this product as “a tangible example of how innovation can drive sustainability and open up new business opportunities. With this solution, we reinforce our commitment to more responsible packaging with real value for our customers.”
This packaging won first prize in the Large Company category of the 5th Ecodesign Competition , organized by the CONAMA Foundation, one of the most prominent competitions in its field. During the event, the jury praised its commitment to sustainability, high recyclability, and functional design as a milestone in the packaging industry.
It has also been recognised at the Foodtech Innovation Awards 2025 as the best “Disruptive Solution in the Packaging Market” for its innovative proposal. Additionally, it is a finalist in the Sustainability Awards 2025 by Packaging Europe magazine , whose awards will be presented in November in Utrecht.
