Nutriearth accelerates international sales expansion

French biotechnology innovator Nutriearth has announced a major expansion of its international commercial footprint, securing a distribution agreement with chemical distribution leader Nordmann.
The partnership aims to accelerate the availability of N-utra, Nutriearth’s sustainable, insect-based vitamin D3 ingredient, across key European markets.
Under the new agreement, Nordmann will manage the distribution of N-utra across a vast swath of the continent, including the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), France, the Benelux countries, and extensive territories throughout Central and Eastern Europe, ranging from Poland and the Baltic states to the Balkans and Greece.
The collaboration is designed to connect local food manufacturers with sustainable nutrition solutions, meeting growing consumer demands for transparency and functional ingredients.
“With these new partnerships, we are accelerating the global availability of N-utra and strengthening our local presence in key European markets,” said Thomas Dormigny, co-founder and chief customer officer of Nutriearth. “Nordmann’s deep market expertise… make them an ideal partner to help us bring natural vitamin D3 innovation to more consumers across Europe.”
N-utra is marketed as a “functional flour” derived from Tenebrio molitor (the mealworm). Unlike traditional synthetic vitamin supplements, N-utra is produced using a patented biomimetic process that replicates the way living organisms naturally synthesise vitamin D3 from sunlight. This method results in a product naturally rich in proteins, B-vitamins, and antioxidants. Crucially, Nutriearth claims superior efficacy over traditional sources:
- Bioavailability: studies cite an absorption rate 3.3 times higher than lanolin-derived D3 and twice as high as lichen-based alternatives
- Sustainability: an environmental lifecycle assessment indicates 76.8% lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to lanolin-derived production.
The ingredient is designed for integration into everyday consumer goods — such as bread, pasta, biscuits, and compotes — without altering taste, texture, or appearance.
Nutriearth highlighted a recent collaboration with a biscuit manufacturer where a single madeleine formulated with N-utra provided 25% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin D3. This functionality allows manufacturers to make specific health claims regarding bone health, muscle function, and immunity while maintaining a clean label.
Beyond health benefits, the partnership offers a strategic advantage for European manufacturers. Currently, 99.9% of the global vitamin D3 supply is imported from China and India. By conducting all production within France, Nutriearth offers a secure, traceable, and local alternative, reducing the continent’s reliance on Asian imports.
Ulla Seidel, global sales director life sciences at Nordmann, commented on the alignment of the two companies: “This innovative ingredient perfectly aligns with our strategy to deliver sustainable and science-driven solutions… With N-utra, we can help manufacturers create products that combine naturality, functionality and consumer appeal.”
The announcement comes just ahead of Fi Europe 2025, taking place in Paris from December 2–4. Nutriearth plans to showcase both N-utra and its supplement-focused concentrate, Nutra-oil, at the event, positioning the company at the forefront of the food industry’s shift toward sustainable innovation.
