Celebrating ten years of champagne success
For the tenth year running, the UK again emerged as the leading export market for champagne.
According to the Comite Interprofessional du Vin de Champagne, UK trends signalled dynamic growth for rose, vintage and larger bottles, such as magnums, jeroboams and nebuchadnezzars.
Champagne’s sustained success in the UK is said to be mainly due to perceived
economic growth coupled with the traditional affinity Britain has for champagne in regard to social gatherings.
“Britons are known as great lovers of celebration and this year we’ve seen a new trend as export figures show a dramatic increase in large-sized bottles, commented Françoise Peretti, director for the Champagne Information Bureau in the UK.
