Metpack is being postponed and will now take place at Messe Essen from February 23 to 27, 2021.

The international trade fair for metal packaging will, as accustomed, run parallel to interpack, which is also being postponed.

The decision was preceded by a general ruling, which was issued by the City of Essen and, against the background of the spread of the coronavirus, is prohibiting the staging of events until further notice.

Oliver P. Kuhrt, CEO of Messe Essen said: “I am very pleased that, in close coordination with the cooperation partners of Metpack, it has been possible to reschedule the trade fair to the end of February 2021 into the accustomed surroundings of interpack. I thank everybody involved for the close and trustful collaboration in this particular situation characterised by force majeure.”

Wolfgang Niemsch, Chairman of the Metpack committee and general manager of Lanico Maschinenbau Otto Niemsch GmbH, said: “The new dates of Metpack are the ideal solution. They will ensure the accustomed closed presentation of the sector and will permit the necessary lead time for all the participants. In particular, I would like to thank Messe Essen which, with its efforts, is making the accustomed duo of fairs possible not only for us as exhibitors but also for the visitors. That is not a matter of course with a full calendar of events.”

David May, vice chairman of Roeslein & Associates, Inc., shared this estimation: “We are very relieved that it was possible to find not only new, but also such favourable dates at such short notice. The postponement of the fair while maintaining the proximity to interpack gives the very international exhibitors the opportunity to present themselves to the global market as planned.”
