Strawberry demand sparks Tango launch

Carlsberg Britvic has expanded its core beverage lineup this summer with the permanent rollout of Tango Strawberry.

The product launch is a deliberate move aimed at capitalising on a major surge in consumer appetite for strawberry-flavoured soft drinks across retail and hospitality sectors.

Tapping into market demand

The primary catalyst behind the brand’s latest portfolio expansion is clear, quantifiable category growth.

According to recent market data from the CGA by NielsenIQ database (MAT to 31 March 2026), strawberry-flavoured drinks are experiencing an exceptional upward trajectory in the out-of-home sector. Over the past year alone, the flavour profile has grown in the on-trade by 6.7 per cent in total volume and an impressive 12 per cent in financial value.

In its official launch announcement, the company stated that Tango Strawberry is a “refreshing addition, designed to build on the popularity of strawberry-flavoured soft drinks.” By securing a permanent spot for this classic profile, the company aims to leverage established market momentum to provide a reliable volume driver for its partners.

Driving retail and QSR engagement

The new variant is structured to give businesses an immediate summer boost while establishing long-term commercial value. Carlsberg Britvic explained that the product’s “vibrant flavour and unmistakable Tango packaging” are strategically positioned to “help retailers tap into the potential for strawberry within flavoured carbonates.”

Rather than relying on a limited-edition run, the decision to make the flavour a stable fixture is about reinforcing brand equity. By anchoring the launch within established supply lines, the company is “bolstering its core range and helping to offer more choice from a popular and recognisable brand.” Furthermore, the brand emphasised that this rollout aligns with its long-standing reputation for “delivering impactful flavour innovation that drives excitement and keeps consumers coming back for more.”

Tango Strawberry has officially hit select shelves and distribution networks on 22 June 2026. The beverage has launched permanently within the supermarket chain Iceland, packaged in MP24 formats with a manufacturer’s recommended retail price (MRSP) of £13.19.
