Rockwell Automation builds in safety at poultry facility

Rockwell Automation is collaborating with Turkish poultry processor Beypiliç on a facility-wide safety solution at its newly constructed meat processing facility, with approximately 2,000 safety devices now installed across the site.
The project is designed to strengthen personnel safety and machine protection, while providing a standardised approach to safety across the facility. Importantly, the solution was incorporated during the plant’s design phase rather than being added retrospectively.
Beypiliç, one of Türkiye’s largest poultry processing companies, required electrical panel doors throughout the new facility to be secured to reduce risks during production and maintenance activities. The implemented system uses non-contact monitoring of access points to help limit exposure to moving or energised equipment.
The project brings together Rockwell Automation’s industrial safety expertise with local implementation and coordination from AB Market Elektrik Otomasyon, a value-added distributor and authorised member of the Rockwell Automation PartnerNetwork ecosystem in Türkiye.
“From the beginning, Beypiliç was focused on building safety into the foundation of this new facility,” said Fatih Uzumcu, country director, Türkiye, Rockwell Automation. “By taking a standardised, solution-led approach, they were able to address regulatory requirements while also supporting safer day-to-day operations and maintenance.”
The safety technology has also been selected to meet the demanding conditions associated with poultry and food processing. The implementation includes Allen-Bradley 440N Ferrogard GD2 non-contact interlock switches, which feature an IP68-rated stainless-steel design intended for wet and hygiene-critical environments.
Equipment used in food processing facilities can be exposed to frequent cleaning and sanitation cycles, making resistance to water ingress and corrosion an important consideration when specifying safety components.
For AB Market, the scale of the project also highlighted the importance of coordination between the technology provider, implementation partner and end user.
“Projects of this scale require close coordination from the earliest planning stages,” said Coşan Kuzu, regional sales manager, AB Market. “By working closely with both Rockwell Automation and Beypiliç, we were able to help implement a consistent safety approach across the facility while supporting local execution, regulatory alignment and long-term operational requirements.”
With around 2,000 safety devices deployed, the Beypiliç facility demonstrates how manufacturers can take a more consistent, plant-wide approach to safety as new food processing facilities become increasingly automated and complex.
