Greiner Packaging has strengthened its partnership with Huel by developing a functional, high‑impact K3 packaging solution for the brand’s new High Protein Ramen Noodle Cups — a launch now rolling out exclusively in Tesco stores across the UK.

The cardboard‑plastic combination cup meets the technical demands of hot‑meal preparation while amplifying shelf standout and supporting Huel’s bold brand identity.

Functional packaging built for hot‑meal performance

Huel’s ramen concept required packaging that could withstand heat, offer comfortable handling and provide strong visual presence.

Greiner’s K3 technology delivers on all fronts: the cardboard wrap provides structural stability, enabling thinner plastic walls and reducing overall plastic use, while also offering natural thermal insulation so consumers can prepare and enjoy the meal directly from the cup.

Tim Urch, senior marketing manager at Huel, said the K3 solution offers “the perfect combination of premium shelf impact and consumer convenience… making hot meals more comfortable to handle and enjoy.”

Premium shelf impact with expanded communication space

The wrap features vibrant colours, high‑quality printing and UV spot varnish to create a premium look aligned with Huel’s brand. The additional printable surface supports brand storytelling, nutritional messaging and preparation instructions — essential for a new category entry.

Supporting correct disposal through consumer engagement

K3 includes an integrated tear tab designed to make it easy for consumers to separate the cardboard wrap from the plastic cup after use. Clear disposal instructions printed directly on the wrap guide users through proper waste sorting according to local requirements.

This functionality not only improves recyclability but also gives Huel valuable communication space to engage consumers beyond the point of purchase — from preparation guidance to brand messaging and product storytelling.

From concept to market launch

The project was delivered within ambitious timelines thanks to close cooperation between Huel and Greiner Packaging. The partnership demonstrates how aligned value‑chain collaboration can accelerate development and bring new concepts to market faster.

Donna Cullen, sales manager at Greiner Packaging, said: “Huel wanted packaging that reflected the boldness of its new product. Together, we created a solution that delivers premium shelf impact, functionality and a packaging design that supports correct disposal after consumption, helping Huel make a strong first impression in an exciting new category.”

A scalable platform for Huel’s expansion

With Tesco as the exclusive launch partner, the K3 solution gives Huel a distinctive, functional and consumer‑friendly packaging platform as it builds momentum in hot‑meal formats.
