Momentum building for DeltaH Innovations

James Vyse, founder and CEO of deltaH Innovation.
DeltaH Innovations says it hopes to announce its first agreement with a globally recognised, tier-one brand in the coming weeks, following strong interest in its self-cooling can at London Packaging Week.
Cool>Can, developed by James Vyse at South Wales-based DeltaH Innovations, was named the overall winner at the event. The award capped the company’s first appearance as an exhibitor and two days of conversations with beverage fillers, canmakers and brands about the technology’s commercial potential.
The patented can is designed to cool its contents in approximately 60 seconds after a button on its base activates an endothermic reaction. The cooling effect then lasts for around 40 minutes. Demonstrations at London Packaging Week gave visitors the chance to see the system in action, generating interest in how it could be brought to market.
“Packaging Week has been like letting a genie out of the bottle,” said Vyse. “We knew people responded strongly when they saw Cool>Can work, but the level of interest at the show was phenomenal. Winning the overall award has given us an even bigger platform and led to some very exciting conversations.”
DeltaH Innovations is now progressing discussions with a globally recognised, tier-one brand. The company hopes to announce its first major brand agreement in the coming weeks, although no agreement or partner is being named at this stage.
“For us, the win was about more than the award itself,” Vyse added. “It put Cool>Can in front of the people who can help take it from a compelling demonstration to a product available to consumers. We’re working hard on the next steps and hope to have significant news to share soon.”
Cool>Can is currently assembled by DeltaH Innovations at its base in South Wales. Its design places a filled 250ml beverage can inside a larger can that houses the cooling mechanism. A module attached to the base contains the water reservoir used to trigger the cooling reaction.
The company says the response at London Packaging Week has strengthened its confidence in demand for a can that can chill a drink quickly, wherever it is consumed.
