Princes is injecting a fresh burst of global flavour into the canned ready meal (CRM) category with the launch of four new Asian-inspired curry varieties.

Designed to meet the growing consumer appetite for modern culinary trends, the new rollout brings popular Thai, Japanese, and Korean flavour profiles straight to the pantry shelf.

What’s on the menu?

The four-strong lineup combines convenience with bold, contemporary tastes:

  1. Thai Red Chicken Curry
  2. Thai Green Chicken Curry
  3. Chicken Katsu Curry
  4. Korean Sweet Chilli Chicken Curry

Every tin in the new range is high in protein — clearly highlighted on the front of the pack — and features no red traffic-light labels, offering a wholesome, balanced meal choice for busy households.

Tapping into unmet canned ready meal demand

The expansion comes as research reveals that 80% of buyers are eager to see more modern, diverse cuisines introduced to the canned ready meal category. While curry remains a powerhouse sector within CRM worth £15.6 million — outperforming wider category declines with volume up 2.6% and value up 2.1% — mainstream flavour options have historically remained largely unmet.

As the market-leading brand in curry CRM, Princes is strategically positioned to drive longevity and appeal to both loyal shoppers and adventurous new consumers.

“We know consumers are increasingly seeking exciting, global flavours that are both convenient and tasty,” said Jeremy Gibson, marketing director at Princes Group. “Our brand-new flavours will bring some of the nation’s favourite Asian-inspired dishes to the canned ready meal category, providing shoppers with affordable, quick meal solutions.”

Retail availability & rollout

Shoppers can find the new additions on shelves starting this week:

  • Sainsbury’s: Thai Green Chicken Curry, Chicken Katsu Curry, and Korean Sweet Chilli Chicken Curry are available now.
  • Iceland: Korean Sweet Chilli Chicken Curry is also available now.
  • Tesco: All four flavours will hit shelves nationwide starting 26 October.

With convenience remaining the primary driver for CRM consumption, Princes’ latest launch unlocks a major opportunity for category growth, proving that canned meals can deliver exciting, restaurant-style flavours right at home.
