graze pledges to reduce plastic packaging by 80% in two years

graze has committed to reducing plastic packaging by 80% in the next two years and opt for renewable alternatives.

Turning to paper-based alternatives, graze will unveil the first wave of its plastic-free punnets this year, with further packaging formats to be rolled-out by 2021.

The snacking brand has worked with material suppliers and packaging manufacturers on a number of innovations over the last ten months to identify an easily recyclable, sustainable alternative to plastic.

While fully recyclable and plastic-free, the team is still refining the current prototype to ensure sufficient barrier protection to maintain the taste of graze’s snacks – guaranteeing sustainability through the entire consumer experience, including minimising food waste.

Once finalised, the punnet solution will be trialled with graze’s direct-to-consumer customers to encourage further product feedback before hitting shelves in mid-2020.

Following this, the business will roll out a number of additional packaging solutions across its wider product categories.

Commenting, Charlotte Mannings said: “We look forward to making further progress as we continue to push the boundaries of packaging innovation to disrupt this space for the better and won’t stop until we’ve achieved our aim of creating a plastic-free future.”
