AstaReal presents astaxanthin products for the healthy ageing market at Vitafoods

AstaReal will be presenting its high-quality product range for the healthy ageing market at Vitafoods Europe.

From chewable soft gel capsules to gummies and sachets, the company will showcase a broad variety of applications for AstaReal Astaxanthin, which is derived from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis. In addition, AstaReal will hold a seminar together with Innova Market Insights on how to create a winning formula for healthy ageing, at the Life Stages Theatre on 12 May at 14:20.

The healthy ageing market is booming and shows no sign of slowing down. Yet it isn´t just older consumers who are driving demand within this space. Increasing awareness of the importance of ageing well, and taking a preventative approach early on, presents a huge opportunity for science-backed ingredients across a range of demographics. As a natural and sustainable antioxidant with many health benefits, astaxanthin can have a significant impact on the quality of a person’s healthspan – the portion of their life during which they are generally in good health.

Taking up this trend, Andie Long from AstaReal, and Irina Beule from Innova Market Insights, will give a lecture entitled “Create a winning formula for healthy ageing – natural astaxanthin science, trends and opportunities for success.” They will discuss the trends driving the healthy ageing market, identify key opportunities and highlight consumer needs that can be met with natural astaxanthin.

In addition, AstaReal will present various prototypes showcasing its versatile product range that allows for the development of innovative dosage forms. These include chewable soft gel capsules, gummies and sachets. Gummy supplements in particular promise huge potential for younger target groups and consumers who want to take astaxanthin “on the go”. Targeting indications such as skin health, muscle performance and vision, the company is well equipped to meet consumer-led demands.

Andie Long, marketing and sales manager at AstaReal: “Consumers of all age groups look for preventative, natural ingredients backed by science. While health benefits are a major factor, sustainability and traceability are other key drivers for market growth – particularly as people are increasingly concerned about the origin of their products. Almost at the bottom of the marine food chain, microalgae supply astaxanthin and omega-3 fatty acids to fish and krill, and represent a sustainable as well as vegetarian alternative to both.”
