Prinova Europe and Hofseth BioCare showcase potential of salmon protein hydrolysate

Prinova Europe has published a white paper setting out new concepts that highlight the potential of ProGo salmon protein hydrolysate (SPH) for weight management and sports nutrition. With a neutral taste and a light mouthfeel, ProGo is ideal for supplements but can also be used to fortify a range of everyday foods.
There is increasing evidence of the effectiveness of ProGo SPH for the reduction of body mass index (BMI). A recent study compared its anti-obesity and fat-burning effects with those of whey protein isolate. Nineteen of the 23 subjects who supplemented with ProGo showed a significant BMI decrease after 42 days, with an average decrease of 5.9%. By contrast, subjects in the WPI group gained a small amount of weight.*
ProGo is produced by Norwegian biotech company, Hofseth BioCare (HBC). In addition to its benefits for weight loss, it has been shown to address iron deficiency anaemia. Containing more than 97% pure hydrolysed protein, it is also highly digestible and bioaccessible.
With a neutral taste and a light mouthfeel, ProGo is ideal for supplements but can also be used to fortify a range of everyday foods. In a new White Paper, HBC’s European distribution partner Prinova Europe announces three new concepts demonstrating the potential of ProGo SPH in weight management and performance applications:
- Workout Recovery: A blend of ProGo, carbohydrates, amino acids and vitamins to fully replenish glycogen stores after exercise
- Advanced Protein Drink: A hypoallergenic formulation offering 92% protein per serving. With minimal carbohydrate and fat content, it supports weight loss, aids muscle growth and supports a healthy lifestyle
- Complete Protein Drink: A blend of ProGo and WPI to provide an optimal amino acid profile as well as high bioavailability. It is perfect as a post-exercise drink to support the growth and maintenance of muscle mass.
Tony Gay, head of technical sales & NPD at Prinova Europe, said: “The protein ingredients market is currently dominated by dairy, but salmon protein hydrolysate offers huge potential. In fact, it has been found to outperform whey protein isolate in areas such as the reduction of BMI. With these new concepts, we hope to demonstrate that ProGo SPH can be a powerful tool for the management of obesity, as well as a valuable sports nutrition solution.”
The White Paper also highlights the sustainability credentials of ProGo, which is produced using a unique proprietary enzymatic extraction process. The result of 12 years of R&D, it minimises waste from the fish and protects the nutrients it offers.
