Triangular triumph for Sidel

SidelSidel, a manufacturer of PET solutions for liquid packaging, has unveiled a new triangular bottle for a still water product by SEAB.

The bottle represents several firsts in water bottle design, as it’s the only PET triangular bottle in this market and the only PET bottle for mineral water without a conventional label, according to Sidel.

“The product statutory information is engraved by laser machine directly into the mould, ensuring such information is reproduced with constant quality on the bottle,” explains a Sidel spokesman.

According to the design brief from SEAB, the new 0.75l bottle in PET was to be triangular in shape to differentiate it from other established brands, and simple in appearance to convey the concepts of quality and purity.

“Also included in the brief was the requirement for minimalist aesthetics to be applied to the new bottle, particularly in light of the need to overcome the custom within restaurants and hotels of using only glass containers,” says the spokesman. “With its individual shape and its exclusive appearance showing only an engraved logo and the legally required information, the bottle fulfilled all of SEAB’s requirements.

“Sidel has delivered a bottle that is appealing and minimal in its design simplicity as well as, very importantly, being easy to handle, despite its unusual shape.  The proportion of the height of the bottle to the area of the base turned out to be the main technical challenge of the whole project.”
