Givaudan Taste & Wellbeing has broken ground on a new, state-of-the-art liquids production facility near Cincinnati, Ohio.

The project represents a substantial investment of CHF 187 million (approximately $215 million USD), underscoring Givaudan’s commitment to strengthening its operational footprint in the United States and serving the booming North American food and beverage market.

The new facility will occupy 24,000 square meters on a total reserved land area exceeding 100,000 square meters, providing ample space for significant future growth and expansion.

“This new facility represents our largest investment in the US in many years, demonstrating the importance of the market to Givaudan and to the food and beverage industry,” said Gilles Andrier, chief executive officer of Givaudan. He framed the project as a direct action supporting the company’s 2030 strategy to boost market presence, extend customer reach, and advance sustainable solutions.

The new Ohio site is being designed with sustainability at its core. In a major commitment to reducing its environmental footprint, the facility will be run without the use of natural gas to cut Givaudan’s overall GHG emissions. The project will also integrate sustainable technologies, including advanced carbon bed filtration systems.

In addition to environmental benefits, the facility is poised to be an economic driver for the region. Over time, Givaudan expects to create over 300 jobs across various skill sets and has announced plans to support local community programs, including educational initiatives.

“By expanding our operational capabilities, we’re positioning ourselves for future innovation as we continue to deliver tailored solutions within North America,” said Antoine Khalil, president of taste & wellbeing.

Construction is currently underway. Givaudan anticipates that the facility will be completed in 18 months, with partial operations scheduled to begin as early as 2027. The new site will complement Givaudan’s existing network of 17 locations across the United States and Canada.
