Munters’ Speria brand unifies food tech data

Global climate control specialist Munters has officially launched Speria, a new commercial brand that consolidates its entire FoodTech business area into a single, connected digital ecosystem.
The launch is designed to accelerate the digitalisation of the global food supply chain. By uniting Munters’ hardware, software, and services under one unified umbrella, Speria will deliver end-to-end operational intelligence to help food producers and integrators run more predictable, efficient, and resilient operations.
The global food industry remains one of the least digitalised sectors in the world, even as it faces mounting pressures from volatile input costs, chronic labour shortages, and fragmented operations.
While individual farms and processing facilities often generate vast amounts of data, this information typically lives in disconnected silos. Speria has been engineered to bridge this gap, connecting planning, execution, and real-time performance.
The ecosystem functions by capturing real-time data directly from the source through Munters’ farm-level hardware, which includes:
- Controllers, sensors, and gateways that monitor live environment and equipment conditions.
- Optimisation software that ingests this raw data to plan and coordinate logistics across the wider supply chain.
- Expert services that translate the consolidated data into prioritised, actionable guidance for operators.
By turning fragmented data into a single source of truth, the system helps producers anticipate supply chain disruptions earlier, maintain operational consistency, and optimise key performance indicators like feed conversion, waste reduction, and animal welfare.
Currently, Munters’ FoodTech division operates through five distinct brands: MTech Systems (supply chain optimisation software) and four specialised environmental controller brands: Hotraco, Rotem, InoBram, and AEI.
The introduction of Speria marks a step-by-step transition to bring these individual technologies closer together. Under the new structure, MTech Systems will gradually transition into the Speria brand. Meanwhile, the four controller brands — Hotraco, Rotem, InoBram, and AEI — will continue to operate as specialised product brands under the broader Speria umbrella.
For existing Munters FoodTech customers, the launch will not disrupt daily business. The company confirmed that there are no immediate changes to legal structures, corporate governance, or customer agreements, and the teams that clients interact with on a daily basis remain the same.
Klas Forsström, president and CEO of Munters, highlighted the long-term growth potential of the digital transition: “Speria represents the next phase of FoodTech’s transformation journey, where Munters has developed a business focused on digital solutions. This enables us to capture a substantial growth opportunity. With our installed base, deep industry expertise and long-standing relationships with producers and integrators, Speria is uniquely positioned to spearhead the continued digitalization of the food industry.”
Pia Brantgärde Linder, president of FoodTech and group vice president of Munters, emphasised the practical, on-the-ground benefits for food producers: “In practice, this helps our customers anticipate disruptions earlier, improve consistency across operations, and deliver better production and business results. By connecting these capabilities across farm and supply chain, we enable producers and integrators to improve feed conversion, reduce waste and emissions, and support better animal health and welfare.”
