The EU Fab 6 campaign has unveiled a new seasonal guide designed to show how Europe’s PDO and PGI wines and deli meats can slip naturally into the lighter, more informal eating and drinking occasions that define summer.

As consumers across Europe embrace terrace aperitifs, relaxed outdoor lunches and spontaneous sharing moments, the guide positions certified GI products as perfectly suited to these evolving habits — offering quality, authenticity and versatility without the formality often associated with traditional wine‑and‑charcuterie settings.

The guide reframes European GI products for contemporary summer use, emphasising conviviality over ceremony. Rather than focusing on structured dining, it highlights flexible, easygoing moments where craftsmanship-led products can be enjoyed in accessible, modern ways. It’s a shift that mirrors broader consumer behaviour: warmer months increasingly favour social, unplanned and less ritualised occasions, and the campaign argues that PDO and PGI labels are well placed to meet this trend.

At its core, the guide showcases the wines and deli meats championed by The EU Fab 6. Abruzzo PDO wines — including Trebbiano d’Abruzzo PDO and Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo PDO — sit alongside the PDO wines of Premières Côtes de Bordeaux and Cadillac, as well as Garnacha PDO wines such as Terra Alta PDO and Cariñena PDO. Together, they offer a spectrum of styles suited to summer’s relaxed rhythm, from fresh aperitif pours to food‑friendly bottles for shared meals.

Complementing the wines, the campaign spotlights deli meats including Mortadella Bologna PGI, Salamini Italiani alla Cacciatora PDO and Zampone and Cotechino Modena PGI. The guide shows how these products can be reimagined for lighter seasonal consumption — from simple sharing boards to casual lunches and outdoor gatherings — without losing the heritage and quality guarantees embedded in the GI system.

Available now on the campaign website, the guide provides inspiration for bringing European GI wines and deli meats into everyday summer tables and social occasions. The initiative forms part of “The EU Fab 6 – Savour the PDO and PGI Wines and Deli Meats from Europe”, a programme co‑financed by the European Union to promote European excellence in the United Kingdom and Switzerland through tastings, education and promotional events.

The campaign is supported by six consortia: Consorzio Italiano Tutela Mortadella Bologna, Consorzio Cacciatore Italiano, Consorzio Zampone e Cotechino Modena PGI, ODG des Premières Côtes de Bordeaux et Cadillac, Asociación Garnacha Origen, and Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Abruzzo — each contributing products that reflect Europe’s deep-rooted craftsmanship and regional identity.
