Niagara Bottling’s $141m Kentucky plant taps into regional strengths

Niagara Bottling has opened a $141m beverage production facility in Northern Kentucky, adding manufacturing capacity and 60 full-time jobs as the US region attracts further investment in food, ingredients and supply chain operations.
The 436,000-sq.-ft. facility in Elsmere, Kenton County, brings beverage production and distribution together at a site designed to support the company’s manufacturing and logistics operations. The project, initially announced in September 2024, exceeded its original investment commitment by more than $11m.
Location connects production with distribution
Niagara began construction in early 2025 at the C5 Airport East Logistics Center, a 52-acre site developed by CORE5 Industrial Partners. Its position in Northern Kentucky, within the wider Cincinnati region, provides access to a central US distribution network.
The facility supports both beverage manufacturing and distribution, allowing Niagara to serve customers across its domestic market. The company supplies private-label and branded beverages to major beverage brands, retailers, grocers, club stores and convenience stores.
Its portfolio includes bottled water, sparkling, vitamin and flavoured water, sports drinks, ready-to-drink tea and coffee, and protein drinks.
Skilled workforce supports expansion
Northern Kentucky’s workforce was a central consideration in attracting the project. The region has a labour pool of more than 1.5 million people and over 10,000 people employed in food research and development, processing and manufacturing, according to BE NKY Growth Partnership, the region’s economic development organisation.
That existing base offers access to both production workers and specialist talent as food and beverage manufacturers expand.
“ Our high-quality water resources, skilled workforce and central location give food and beverage manufacturers a compelling platform for growth,” said Lee Crume, president and CEO of BE NKY Growth Partnership.
Niagara’s investment also builds on the region’s established food and flavour manufacturing sector. Northern Kentucky is home to more than 30 food flavour manufacturers, alongside craft breweries and distilleries, with additional food and beverage businesses operating across the Cincinnati region.
The concentration of companies creates a broader manufacturing ecosystem in which businesses can draw on established industry expertise, although the announcement does not specify whether Niagara will source ingredients, services or other inputs locally.
Food and flavour investment gathers pace
Niagara’s opening is part of a wider pattern of investment in Northern Kentucky’s food and beverage industries. Steuart Nutrition, Wild Flavors and MarfoFMA Corp. are among the companies reported to have announced investments in the region during 2026.
The growth spans food research, manufacturing and supply chain operations, reflecting the region’s ambition to attract businesses involved in producing, processing and distributing food and drink.
Kentucky’s workforce support services can also provide manufacturers with recruitment and job-placement assistance, customised training and job-training incentives. Such programmes are intended to help businesses develop the skills required for their operations.
For Niagara, the new facility represents a long-term commitment to the region. For Northern Kentucky, it adds another major manufacturing operation to an increasingly diverse food and beverage base.
The investment illustrates a broader consideration for manufacturers planning expansion: the attractiveness of a production site depends not only on the building or equipment, but also on whether the surrounding region can provide the workforce, infrastructure and distribution access needed to sustain operations.
