Italian dairy producer Caseificio Valcolatte has taken a major step forward in environmental stewardship by introducing its first-ever recyclable paper packaging.

Rolled out for its signature burrata, the new packaging initiative reflects a growing industry understanding that true dairy innovation extends beyond the recipe to encompass how products are brought to market.

Marrying tradition with eco-consciousness

Known for crafting traditional Italian cheeses using 100% Italian milk, Valcolatte faced the challenge of aligning its heritage of quality with modern ecological demands. The decision to transition away from traditional formats toward an innovative paper-based solution stems from a corporate commitment to a more sustainable future.

By choosing recyclable paper packaging for its burrata, the dairy has three aims:

  1. Reduce environmental impact: cut down on conventional packaging materials that burden waste streams.
  2. Future-proof packaging: meet rising consumer and regulatory expectations for circular, eco-friendly food containers.
  3. Maintain product integrity: protect the delicate freshness, creaminess, and quality of the fresh cheese without compromising on shelf performance.

With this shift, Valcolatte can claim it is setting a new benchmark for eco-conscious choices in the Italian cheese sector.
