Cupper’s Journey brings African coffees to UK

Cupper’s Journey, a new British coffee brand rooted in the slow‑coffee movement, has made its UK debut with a curated range of premium single‑estate and single‑origin African coffees, each scoring 84+ on the SCA cupping scale.
The brand enters the market with a speciality collection sourced from leading estates across Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Zambia and Uganda. Available as whole bean or ground (filter), the coffees come in 250g packs (from £14.85), with 1kg formats for wholesale and hospitality.
The launch taps into rising consumer interest in origin-led storytelling, high-scoring micro-lots and slower, more intentional brewing rituals. As pour‑over and manual brewing gain traction, retailers and cafés are seeking coffees that offer both provenance and elevated flavour complexity.
Each coffee showcases the diversity of African terroir, with standout flavour profiles including:
- Bekele Kachara, Ethiopia — Light roast with almond and tropical fruit notes (cupping score: 88).
- Rwamatamu, Rwanda — Naturally processed, medium-light roast with berry acidity and creamy mouthfeel (cupping score: 88).
- Silverback, Uganda — Strawberry sweetness with malt, nutmeg and dark chocolate undertones (cupping score: 86).
Designed for speciality retailers, farm shops, delis, cafés, hotels and restaurants, the range targets consumers seeking premium, ethically sourced, flavour‑forward coffees and hospitality operators looking to elevate their brew quality.
Cupper’s Journey is launching direct‑to‑consumer via its website and through wholesale partners, supporting independent retail and hospitality channels. The brand also offers equipment support, including the Hiroia Hikaru V60 Smart Brewer, to help operators deliver consistent pour‑over experiences.
Founded by husband‑and‑wife team Colin and Sarah Hall, the brand aims to champion African coffee excellence and spotlight producers who prioritise sustainability and responsible farming. Colin Hall said the mission is to “shine a light on the vibrant African coffee scene” and bring overlooked high‑scoring coffees to UK drinkers.
Cupper’s Journey enters the market at a moment when premiumisation, provenance and ritual‑led brewing are reshaping consumer expectations. Its focus on single‑estate traceability, high cupping scores and slow‑coffee culture signals growing opportunities for suppliers offering depth, craftsmanship and origin‑driven differentiation.
