Fit Foods taps into demand for flexible eating

Ireland’s number one ready meal brand, Fit Foods, has launched its new Mini Meals range into 450 Tesco stores nationwide, responding to how consumers are choosing to eat.
The high‑fibre, high‑protein range has been developed for changing eating occasions and smaller appetites, reflecting trends from busier lifestyles and solo households to the rising use of GLP‑1 medications that are reshaping portion preferences.
After a successful rollout in Ireland, the Mini Meals range is now available to UK shoppers as Fit Foods continues to build its presence across the market. The brand, part of Monaghan‑based DMC Foods, has rapidly grown its UK footprint, overtaking Gym Kitchen and MyProtein in sales since entering the market last year.
Designed for modern eating occasions
Fit Foods developed Mini Meals to meet demand for satisfying, nutritionally balanced dishes that work around increasingly fragmented eating patterns. With more consumers eating alone, working irregular hours or seeking lighter meal options, smaller formats are becoming a core growth driver in the ready‑meal category.
The range is targeted at shoppers with smaller appetites — from young professionals and older adults living alone to consumers seeking portion sizes that align with appetite changes linked to lifestyle or health factors, including GLP‑1 medication use.
“Consumers are looking for greater flexibility from the food they buy, and the ready meals category is evolving to reflect that,” said Gillian Clarke, marketing director at DMC Foods. “Not every eating occasion calls for a full‑sized meal, but people still want food that feels satisfying and worth sitting down for. Mini Meals were developed with that shift in mind.”
Small in size, big on flavour
Each Mini Meal is formulated to deliver a high‑protein, high‑fibre profile in a compact portion, offering shoppers a balanced option that fits naturally into their day. The range is made with no artificial colours or flavourings, reinforcing Fit Foods’ positioning around quality, convenience and everyday nutrition.
Alongside Mini Meals, Tesco will list Fit Foods’ Lasagne Mac & Cheese for the first time — a hybrid comfort dish that has quickly become one of the brand’s top sellers. Since launching earlier this year, it has become the second‑biggest SKU in the Fit Foods range, driving a 300% increase in production.
Gillian added: “Both launches reflect our focus on creating meals that fit naturally into people’s lives, while delivering the taste and quality they expect from Fit Foods.”
Family‑run manufacturing with scale
Fit Foods meals are produced at DMC Foods’ dedicated facility in Monaghan, where the family‑run manufacturer combines trusted production expertise with carefully selected ingredients. The Mini Meals launch marks another step in the company’s UK expansion.
