Döhler invests in Türkiye and Mexico to scale global colour capabilities

Creating successful food and beverage products increasingly requires colour solutions that combine strong visual appeal with natural sourcing, reliable availability, and efficient implementation.
To support customers in meeting these requirements across global markets, Döhler is expanding its international colour production network through major investments in Türkiye and Mexico.
The expansion combines significantly increased production capacity with new processing technologies and a stronger regional manufacturing footprint. This gives customers around the world greater flexibility when developing colour solutions for different applications, enabling Döhler to support projects seamlessly from concept development through to scalable production.
Capacity and technology expansion in Türkiye
At its production site in Karaman, Türkiye, Döhler is making a substantial investment to elevate its core colour capabilities. The expansion increases capacity across several existing production lines while introducing new technologies for additional colour formats.
Production capacity for black carrot and beetroot will increase considerably, expanding Döhler’s ability to support customers with natural red and purple solutions based on these raw materials. The site’s liquid colour capabilities are also being strengthened. In addition, resin columns and a new evaporator will increase capacity for anthocyanin- and betanin-based colour solutions.
For powder applications, Döhler is adding new spray dryer technology that will significantly increase colour powder production capacity. Further investment in a new jet mill will expand micronisation capacity, supporting applications where fine particle size and consistent dispersion are critical.
A new roasting unit adds capabilities for natural brown colourants, while a new ball mill supports the production of high-performance colour suspensions. The investment program has been implemented in phases throughout 2026, with full completion targeted for the end of the year.
Strengthening regional manufacturing footprint in Mexico
Döhler is complementing these infrastructure investments with the continued development of its new production site in the State of Mexico. The first phase of the site, located in the Arco 57 Industrial Park in San Francisco Soyaniquilpan de Juárez, opened in July 2026, establishing a regional hub for science, technology, and the production of natural ingredients and integrated solutions.
As part of the next phase of expansion, Döhler is advancing plans for dedicated natural colour production facilities in Mexico, further strengthening its industrial capabilities across the region.
By bringing production and technical expertise closer to customers in Mexico, Latin America, and North America, the site supports shorter response and delivery times, more efficient logistics, and the development of solutions tailored to regional requirements. Local raw-material sourcing and regional supply-chain development will further reinforce these capabilities.
“Colour plays an essential role in the sensory experience of food and beverages, but our customers need more than a broad portfolio. They need solutions that can be developed efficiently, produced reliably and scaled across markets. By expanding our capabilities in Türkiye and Mexico, we are bringing additional capacity, technology and production expertise closer to our customers and creating an even stronger platform for future colour innovation” — Jakob Schjoerring-Thyssen, global head of business unit colours, Döhler
A flexible global platform for colour innovation
Together, the investments in Türkiye and Mexico represent a strategic step forward in the ongoing development of Döhler’s international colour production network. By combining larger-scale production, specialised technologies, and localised regional capabilities, Döhler can support customers with a broad spectrum of colour requirements — ranging from liquid and powder solutions to suspensions and micronised colours.
For food and beverage manufacturers, this expanded platform creates greater operational flexibility to move from initial product idea to industrial implementation while navigating complex application, market, and supply-chain demands.
