Edinburgh-based MBH Holding has unveiled a new premium whisky brand, marking the first branded product release from the independent Scottish spirits group founded by a team of veteran whisky entrepreneurs.

The new brand will sit within MBH’s branded products portfolio and is designed to showcase Scottish whisky craft to international markets, the company said.

The whisky is expected to draw on MBH’s substantial cask portfolio, which includes stock maturing for more than 40 years, and will be positioned in the premium Scotch whisky segment. It will sit alongside the group’s operations in Scotch whisky, independent bottling, cask ownership, rare spirits and whisky tourism.

The launch forms part of MBH’s long-term strategy to combine established revenue-generating Scottish businesses with physical assets, new premium brands and a disciplined acquisition plan. The group has an anticipated combined turnover of £16 million and an estimated £5 million market value in casks and bottles.

Co-founder Liam Hughes said: “Our intention is to build a substantial independent Scottish spirits group of scale – headquartered in Scotland, creating jobs in Scotland, and exporting premium Scottish products globally. We have the operational team, the assets and the infrastructure – we will now deploy that selectively.”

MBH said further details on the new brand’s expressions, tasting notes, pricing and release markets would be announced in due course. The brand name and first product specifications have not yet been disclosed.
