Successful soup trial

The Fristam FSP has been successfully trialled by a vegetable soup producer for its cooked cabbage application.

Fristam managed to successfully blend and mash sliced, cooked cabbage using the Fristam FL 75 pump and Fristam Shear Pump at a flow rate of 2,000kg/h.

The Shear Pump created a fully homogenous blend, which was consistent, lump-free and reduced processing time by more than 80 per cent.

Having previously used an in tank high shear rotary homogeniser, the customer was sceptical as to whether the Fristam Shear Pump could achieve a fully homogenous mix – something that the competitor’s pump had often failed to do.

The FSP features a rotor and stator system in place of an impeller. This draws inhomogeneous products through shearing clearances of just 0.5mm at tip speeds of up to 38m/s.

The cabbage texture and appearance was consistently mashed throughout without being over processed. After this application, the cabbage was ready to be added into the soup for further processing.
