Kliklok International is celebrating after design engineer Dan Stamp was named Young Design Engineer of the Year at the British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEA). The award win follows a successful 12 months which saw Stamp honoured as the industry’s ‘Ones to Watch’ at the PPMA Show last year.

The BEEA judging panel commended Stamp for his role as a “brilliant and enthusiastic ambassador for engineering design” and said he had “demonstrated his technical excellence and proven his engineering skills by making innovative contributions to product design and through his work inspiring young engineers”.

Stamp, 26, joined Kliklok as an assistant engineer in August 2011, having graduated from Bournemouth University, UK, with a first class degree in design engineering. Recognising his potential, as well as the importance of supporting young engineers in the industry, the company sponsored Stamp while he successfully completed his master’s degree.

Since then, he has worked on a number of machine design projects with international companies. He is now applying for chartered engineer (CEng) status and continues to engage with young engineers to share insights into the interesting challenges that engineers face.

Stamp says, “Awards such as the BEEA Young Designer of the Year really highlight just how valued young people are by the manufacturing industries. I hope more school leavers and graduates will consider the truly interesting challenges that a career in engineering can bring.”
