Dorot Gardens offers turmeric in frozen form
The golden spice taking the natural foods sector by storm is now available in fresh-to-frozen cubes from Dorot Gardens, a US market leader in pre-portioned frozen herbs, garlic, and onions. The company’s new Frozen Crushed Turmeric is field-fresh and flash frozen at the source.
Turmeric is the number one selling herbal ingredient in the natural space. In mainstream retail, turmeric sales exceeded $32 million in 2017, a 46.7% jump from the previous year.
Curcuma longa, a member of the ginger family, has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for more than 4,500 years for everything from clearing up congestion and healing wounds to treating chicken pox. Today, nutrition communities tout the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of turmeric that link it to heart and joint health, boosted immunity, improved brain function, cancer prevention and much more.
Turmeric is also revered in culinary circles for bringing earthy flavor and brilliant colour to cuisines all over the world. Home cooks are discovering ways to give meat and poultry dishes, grains, pasta, and even smoothies, hot cereal, and cocktails a boost with turmeric.
There’s no need to peel, chop, and measure the turmeric with Dorot Gardens’ new frozen offering, because the turmeric comes in the form of pre-measure cubes (1 cube = 1 tsp). Additionally, like all Dorot Gardens all-natural frozen seasoning products, Frozen Crushed Turmeric contains no preservatives or artificial ingredients. It is vegan, gluten-free, and free of dairy, soy, or nuts. It is also non-GMO, OU kosher and halal.
Frozen Crushed Turmeric is the latest addition to Dorot Gardens’ line of all-natural frozen seasoning products. It is sold in 2.5oz packages of 16 cubes (MSRP: $2.99). US consumers can find it in the freezer section at Stew Leonard’s and Best Market. Dorot Gardens products are distributed by KAYCO.
