‘Eaten Alive’ launches hot sauces and restaurant exclusives range

‘Eaten Alive’ the award-winning fermented foods producer created by two former Michelin starred chefs, is launching a new range of hot sauces, fermented ingredients and pickles.

Famous for its deliciously addictive kimchi and hot sauces, it is expanding its online shop to include three new hot sauce creations, plus a range of its fermented ingredients and pickles.

For the new hot sauce additions, the pair have created their hottest ever sauce – the ‘Extra Spicy Scotch Bonnet Sauce’ (150ml, £4.99). Using super-hot scotch bonnet chillies from a French grower, they have imparted all the complexity of flavour brought by fermentation with lots of fruity scotch bonnet flavour.

For budding chefs, the ‘Lime and Jalapeno Sauce’ – (150ml £3.99), is super fresh, and as tangy as it is spicy; completely addictive and perfect for chicken and fish, or try adding to dressings, gaucamole or salsa for a fiery kick. The ‘Kimchi Hot Sauce’ (150ml, £4.99) has been created using the Eaten Alive ‘Classic Kimchi’ and kimchi brined chillies, peppers and traditional gochgaru (dried Korean chilli).

For those looking to be more adventurous with their home-cooking, the chefs-favourite range of Eaten Alive fermented ingredients, pickles and seasoning pastes – usually only sold direct to restaurants, will now be available for customers to buy direct from the Eaten Alive online shop.

Pat Bingley, managing director, said: Our fermented ingredients range are some of our favourite building blocks for dishes – using fermentation adds layers of complexity that really make the finished dishes zing. Fermenting seasoning pastes and citrus has been happening for centuries, and we just like to look at new and creative ways to use them.”

The range includes:

  • Fermented Jerk Paste – classic jerk flavours enhanced by fermentation. Vegetables are smoked to form a base for added depth for a BBQ marinade. A 375g jar is £5.99
  • Bread and Butter Pickles – an everyday pickle for sandwiches, burgers and everything else. A 375g jar is £4.99
  • Brined Purple Carrots – the carrots are for salads, snacks, sandwiches or taco toppers. A 375g jar is £6.99
  • Preserved Lemon – A paste of sliced fermented whole lemons with the fragrant yuzu fruit. This traditional Asian citrus lifts dressings and marinades, or can be mixed with some mayo and chilli for a exotic dip. A 200g jar is £2.99
  • Preserved Lemon with Yuzu – A paste of fermented whole lemons that will impart a concentrated yet fresh hit of lemon flavour to dishes. A 200g jar is £2.99
  • Preserved Lemon with Fresh Turmeric, Ginger and Garlic – A smooth paste of whole fermented lemons blended with fresh turmeric, ginger and garlic. A 200g jar is £2.99

Made by chefs for chefs, Eaten Alive is the creation of Pat Bingley and Glyn Gordon, who after over 20 years combined experience in some of the UK’s top restaurants.
