Tanqueray announces launch of new blackcurrant variant, expands portfolio for spring 2021

Premium gin brand Tanqueray is expanding its portfolio and bringing a series of new innovations to the drinks category. First to join the brand’s portfolio this month is Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale (41.3% ABV). In April, the brand is also set to introduce two brand new ready-to-drink (RTD) 250ml can formats for Tanqueray London Dry Gin and Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla Distilled Gin (6.5% ABV). Tanqueray Rangpur Lime Distilled Gin (41.3% ABV) is also set to showcase a refreshed pack in the same month.

Continuously inspired by Charles Tanqueray’s quest for only the best quality, the latest innovations have all been crafted to balance the signature characteristics of Tanqueray with layered flavour profiles. Innovation continues to be a key driver of growth within the Gin category, making the latest launches from Tanqueray perfectly placed to capitalise on this opportunity, according to the company.

Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale – inspired by Charles Tanqueray’s travels to France, Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale is crafted with the four botanicals of Tanqueray London Dry Gin, blended with juicy blackcurrants from France, warm vanilla and the exotic floral notes of black orchid. This luxurious gin with its rich and sophisticated flavour profile, will elevate the classic crisp summer Gin & Tonic, says the brand. Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale will be available to purchase on Amazon from 4 February and in selected stores from 17 February with plans to launch in the on-trade later in the year.

Tanqueray Rangpur Lime – the rare Rangpur Lime, layered with bay leaves and ginger, brings distinct bold flavour to the already perfectly balanced botanicals of Tanqueray London Dry Gin, says the brand. The newly renamed Rangpur Lime will be showcasing a beautiful new lime green pack to ensure stand out on shelf and communicate its citrus flavour profile with the same, great tasting liquid. The refreshed pack will be onshelf from April 2021.

New RTD 250ml Formats – available in single 250ml cans, the new formats will tap into the growing RTD category (+22.5%2 ahead of current Off Trade BWS market). The variants will be Tanqueray London Dry Gin & Tonic, and Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla & Tonic. With Premium premix brands growing +43%, Tanqueray believes the new RTD formats will provide consumers convenient and delicious ways to enjoy the unmistakable taste of Tanqueray.

Adrienne Gammie, marketing director for Gins, Pimms and Baileys says: “The Gin category continues to thrive and this is primarily motivated by consumer demand for new and exciting variants. Tanqueray has always been commended for its taste and quality – and the introduction of Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale is an extension of the brand’s commitment to introducing rich and exciting new choices to the market.

“We continue to see a huge trend in customers seeking new formats – especially in the pre-mix category. The new can formats provide convenience to the consumer, whilst being able to enjoy a high-quality serve at home.
