IFP Construction to deliver Oatly’s new plant-based factory
IFP Construction, part of the NIRAS group, has been appointed to build a new UK factory for Oatly, the original Swedish oat drink company.
The new factory, due to open in early 2023 will be built in Peterborough and will be the company’s first UK facility. With construction work due to start next month, the completed factory will provide an end-to-end solution for Oatly and is expected to bring at least 200 new jobs to the local area.
Upon completion, the factory will be one of the world’s largest plant-based dairy factories – with the capacity to produce an anticipated 450 million litres of oat drink per year. This output will help ensure that plant-based dairy becomes more accessible to more consumers, helping them in turn to reduce their own impact on the environment.
As a purpose-led project, Oatly and IFP Construction are committed to ensuring the new factory is designed, built and operated in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
