Magner’s cider boss to step down

Magner’s cider managing director John Holberry is to resign from the parent company C&C group.

He cited a lack of career opportunities following the appointment of a number of ex-Scottish & Newcastle executives to the company as the reason for his departure.
Holberry, who is to leave in August, joined C&C Group as MD of Magners GB in March 2008.
The Magners brand has seen declining sales in the UK thanks to cooler summers and rival cider manufacturers upping their game. However, it has hit back with the launch of a pear variant in the UK accompanied by an advertising campaign developed by Youngs Euro RSCG.
