Parkside has collaborated with artisan crisp brand Two Farmers to deliver a 100% compostable packaging solution for its new Herefordshire Sauce flavour launch.

The partnership uses Parkside’s Park2Nature technology to provide a sustainable alternative to traditional multi-layer plastic crisp packets. This latest launch expands the Two Farmers range, continuing its mission to use “100% compostable packaging” for the premium hand-cooked crisps.

The challenge for snack brands has always been maintaining product freshness without the use of non-recyclable aluminium or plastic films. Parkside’s solution provides the necessary oxygen and moisture barriers to ensure the crisps remain crunchy and shelf-stable.

Because these packs are certified for home composting, they address the on-the-go waste problem. Paul Lenihan, sales account manager at Parkside, explained: “Small packaging items, like these snack packs, are particularly suited to our range of compostable solutions because they are too small to recycle but perfect for the home compost bin.”

The new Herefordshire Sauce flavour celebrates local ingredients, and the packaging reflects that field-to-fork transparency. By using vibrant, fully printable compostable film, the brand maintains its premium shelf presence while reinforcing its environmental values.

Sean Mason, co-founder of Two Farmers, stated: “We have worked with Parkside for several years now, and they share our passion for finding sustainable solutions to the plastic problem.”

The Park2Nature range is designed to break down in a home compost heap, returning to the soil rather than ending up in a landfill or the ocean. This aligns with the founders’ original vision to create a brand that protects the Herefordshire countryside.

For brands this translates into:

  • Enhanced barrier performance: compostable films now offer the same protective qualities as traditional plastics.
  • Consumer alignment: taps into the growing market of eco-conscious snackers.
  • Waste reduction: offers a viable end-of-life solution for small-format flexible packaging that is often rejected by recycling centres.

The continued success of the Parkside and Two Farmers partnership signals a shift away from disposable culture toward a circular economy. As more brands seek to eliminate plastic, high-performance compostable laminates are becoming the new industry benchmark for specialty food and drink producers.
