Florette targets cost-conscious consumers

As food manufacturers and retailers navigate a market defined by tight consumer budgets and rising grocery costs, salad brand leader Florette is shifting its portfolio.

Under pressure from shifting economic climates, shoppers are actively looking to curb their weekly spend but remain unwilling to compromise on health and nutrition.

In direct response to this demand for premium quality at entry-level pricing, Florette has launched its first-ever Essentials range. By focusing strictly on high-volume, everyday staple SKUs, the brand aims to democratise the prepared-salad category while driving critical store footfall for retail partners.

The primary driver behind the Essentials launch is the brand’s objective to keep health-conscious, budget-restricted shoppers engaged in the prepared-produce category. Rather than letting consumers trade down to basic private labels or skip fresh convenience altogether, Florette is positioning itself as a value-branded premium solution.

Sophie Taylor, brand manager at Florette, explained the strategy: We know that while shoppers are feeling the continued impact of rising grocery costs, they still actively want to make healthy, nutritious choices for their families. Our new Florette Essentials range has been strategically developed to answer this exact need.

“By offering consumers to buy the brand at an everyday price point, we are proving that you can eat healthy at an everyday price. This drives footfall for our retail partners by stocking a trusted, high-quality brand at great value for the shopper.”

The new value tier focuses on zero-prep, high-volume staples designed to minimise household food waste and offer versatile meal bases. The rollout begins in mid-May with a phased retail distribution.

By offering premium-brand quality at an accessible, entry-level price point, Florette Essentials Shredded Iceberg 500g will land in Booker and Costco as a first drop and Chopped Iceberg 200g will land in Nisa, TJ Morris & Farmfoods initially.
