With the momentum and business deals of the highly successful 2026 event still reverberating across the packaging industry, interpack is already looking firmly ahead.
The organisers of the world’s leading processing and packaging trade fair have officially announced the dates and a revamped runtime for its next edition in 2029, signalling a strategic shift toward maximum business efficiency.
The next interpack will take place in Düsseldorf from 10 to 15 June 2029. Moving the event to early summer coincides with a structural optimisation of the fair’s schedule.
The exhibition will transition to a tighter, streamlined six-day format, running from Sunday to Friday. This refined layout directly addresses a growing global trend among international trade shows to prioritise highly targeted networking opportunities and optimal use of time for attendees.
Tailoring the format to industry demands
The decision to modify the runtime was not made in isolation. It follows intensive, transparent discussions with exhibiting companies, international industry associations, and the interpack Advisory Board. By scheduling the fair from Sunday to Friday, interpack blends a massive global reach with a more disciplined, high-value framework that respects the busy schedules of modern business executives.
Thomas Dohse, director of interpack, explained the strategic vision guiding the 2029 planning cycle: “interpack is the most important platform in its sector. Building on this position, we are consistently developing the event further. We listen carefully to what exhibitors and visitors need and are creating a format that will support their success at the trade fair even more effectively. This is the first visible sign of that. Further innovations will follow.”
Capitalising on Summer Energy
The shift to a June timeline is also designed to maximize the unique atmosphere of the Düsseldorf exhibition grounds. The early summer weather transforms the open-air grounds, walkways, and outdoor plazas into lively, pleasant communal hubs.
This layout fosters a more relaxed, festival-like environment for the global packaging community. It offers the perfect informal backdrop to complement the intense technical debates, machinery demonstrations, and high-stakes contract negotiations happening inside the exhibition halls.
By remaining flexible and working hand-in-hand with its key stakeholders, interpack continues to cement its reputation as an agile, forward-thinking anchor for the global processing and packaging economy.
