Environmentally friendly chillers
Adcock Refrigeration and Air Conditioning has introduced a range of environmentally friendly chillers that use natural refrigerants. The packaged air and water cooled fluid chillers promise benefits in terms of energy use, efficiency and environmental impact and offer zero global warming potential and a significant reduction in energy consumption.
Hydrocarbon chillers use the natural HC refrigerant R1270. For refrigeration applications, a secondary refrigerant Hycool is used. This is a mixture of potassium and water which is environmentally friendly, biodegradable and food safe. In addition, it has very low viscosity which can reduce energy costs by up to 15% compared to Glycol.
Hydrocarbon chillers offer capacities of between 10 and 600 kW in a range of flow temperatures. Within refrigeration applications Hycool/hydrocarbon chillers can provide up to 125 kW refrigeration capacity with a Hycool supply temperature of -31°C. This makes it ideal for freezer cold stores operating at -22°C.
The chiller units are fully weatherproof and can be sited outdoors in temperatures between -20°C and +40°C.
