Corrugated board

Smurfit Kappa Cor-Trade has launched its latest corrugated board aimed at traditional, solid carton board market sectors.

KartonFlute, from its Norboard Graphical Board range, promises superior strength for a slimmer, sustainable, corrugated board, reducing logistics costs while surpassing carton board for performance and creativity.

It will be available in three standard grades: KartonFlute Lite (750 microns/340gsm), KartonFlute Standard (800 microns/370gsm) and KartonFlute Lux (850 microns/435gsm) which is coated on both sides, all of which include a distinctive white fluting.

Richard Revell, technical sales manager for Smurfit Kappa Cor-Trade, says, “Designers are especially showing interest in KF due to its ability to incorporate fluid curves, alongside or instead of hard folds, die cuts, offering windows and apertures without the structural loss experienced on traditional solid carton boards.

“KF can be supplied combined with a choice of Smurfit Kappa’s barrier coatings, making it an ideal alternative for food and beverage packaging or where grease and moisture has traditionally been a problem, areas not usually associated with micro-flute corrugated boards.”
