Bottled water market outlook

Technavio says the global bottled water market is expected to grow at a CAGR of more than 7% from 2015-2019.
According to its latest report, Technavio believes the increased prevalence of waterborne diseases and scarcity of tap water in many countries has created a high demand for bottled water. Moreover, bottled water is convenient because boiling water at home is time consuming and not energy efficient.
“The need to provide safe drinking water and the growing population in developing countries such as India and countries in the Middle East, have made these countries favourable destinations for multinational bottled water manufacturers,” says Faisal Ghaus, vice president of Technavio.
The report also emphasises the companies that are introducing innovative varieties of bottled water, such as flavoured water and sparkling flavoured water, in order to meet the ever evolving demands from consumers.
“Nestlé recently launched a bottled water, Resource, that caters to women with holistic lifestyles, which contains electrolytes sourced from natural spring water and has packaging made from 50% recyclable plastic,” adds Ghaus.
