Drink giants in merger talks
The company behind soft drink Irn Bru has revealed that it’s in talks about a possible £1.4 billion (€1.8bn) merger with Britvic.
AG Barr, which also makes Tizer and Rubicon, this week said that discussions were at an early stage after it approached its Essex-based rival Britvic about a potential tie-up.
If the deal goes ahead it would create one of Europe’s leading soft drink companies. However, Britvic has said that discussions are still at an early stage.
Britvic’s other products include Robinsons, J2O and Fruit Shoot.
Both companies said the combination would have ‘compelling industrial logic’.
