To meet customer demand during the current Covid-19 pandemic, Fleming Howden has announced that the small scale packing of both flour and cake mixes will commence very shortly, directly from its Newbridge site.

The introduction of these products in 4kg retail packs comes after successful trial work and will be seen as a huge benefit to consumers who are currently home based.

Thomas Mackay, sales manager at Fleming Howden commented: “We’re delighted to make some of our most popular cake mixes accessible in a smaller format and we’re sure they’ll appeal to the home baking market. Particularly in this current environment.”

These adaptations to Fleming Howden’s manufacturing operations come after a strategic review and will ensure the site is better utilised to satisfy increased demand for home baking ingredients. Work continues in a safe manner at all times, fully endorsing social distancing guidelines.

Fleming Howden will carry on monitoring home baking trends and continually review and assess the demand for availability of new products in this new format.

Sam Cook, marketing business partner at AB Mauri, commented: “We’re delighted that Fleming Howden are able to continue to service our customers with the perfect mix of bakery ingredients throughout Scotland and beyond.”

Thomas Mackay, sales manager, Fleming Howden concluded: “In order for as many consumers to enjoy the high quality products offered by Fleming Howden, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss working in partnership with new partners, wholesalers and distributors across Scotland and beyond – who may be interested to help us help the nation!”
