Food & Drink Wales, the Welsh Government’s food division, is set to descend on London’s historic Spitalfields Market to showcase the commercial strength and diversity of the nation’s food and drink sector.

Taking place over the St David’s Day weekend (Saturday, February 28th – Sunday, March 1st), the curated producer showcase will highlight Wales’ credentials as a modern food nation with a booming reputation for provenance-led quality.

The event serves as a strategic platform to connect a dozen high-growth Welsh producers with London-based buyers, hospitality stakeholders, and influential food audiences.

By positioning these brands in one of the capital’s most established trading destinations, Food & Drink Wales aims to demonstrate how heritage and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status can be successfully leveraged alongside modern brand storytelling.

The showcase underlines the commercial importance of origin and sustainable farming in driving the sector’s growth. Participating brands represent a cross-section of the industry, from micro-distilleries to artisan cheese makers, all unified by a commitment to local sourcing and skilled production.

Deputy First Minister with responsibility for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, Huw Irranca-Davies MS, emphasised the strategic value of the event:

“St David’s Day is the perfect moment to celebrate the exceptional quality and creativity of Welsh food and drink producers. Our food and drink sector is built on strong foundations — protected geographical status, sustainable farming practices, and generations of skilled production.

“But it’s also a sector that continues to evolve. Events like this are vital for connecting Welsh businesses with new markets and demonstrating to buyers across the UK that Wales is a modern food nation with products that can compete at the highest level.”
