The Jolly Hog has announced a high-profile collaboration with two of Britain’s most iconic condiment brands, Marmite and Colman’s, in a move designed to bring “retro-stalgia” and bold flavours to the chilled meat category.

The launch represents a shift for the UK sausage aisle, which has historically lagged behind the ambient and snacking sectors in terms of co-branded partnerships. By pairing RSPCA Assured British pork with these legacy household names, The Jolly Hog aims to capitalise on a resilient category where volumes are rising by 2.9% year-on-year.

The partnership is built on the insight that while the sausage category is stable, modern shoppers are increasingly “flavour-curious” and willing to pay a premium for high-quality, recognisable collaborations. The range is specifically designed to appeal to younger consumers who are drawn to “bold, flavour-led options” and the comfort of classic British tastes.

“We wanted to bring some real excitement to the sausage aisle by pairing proper British bangers with flavours that people already know and love,” said Olly Kohn, co-founder of The Jolly Hog. “Marmite and Colman’s are instantly recognisable, and there’s a strong sense of nostalgia around them. For us, it really is Britain’s greatest pairing.”

The project has been years in the making, marking a significant licensing milestone for Unilever, the parent company of both Marmite and Colman’s. The goal was to ensure the flavour profiles were unmistakable — delivering the distinctive tang of mustard and the savoury “umami” punch of yeast extract — without compromising the texture of the premium, outdoor-bred pork.

Melissa Wimble, licensing manager at Unilever, commented: “So much hard work has gone into this project and we’re thrilled to be launching something so uniquely British with The Jolly Hog.”

The launch provides retailers with a powerful hero proposition to drive incremental growth in the pork category. By offering a familiar brand hook, the products are expected to drive higher basket spend among shoppers looking for a premiumised version of the midweek meal.
