UK‑targeted rosé wine drives Gallo’s new launch

Gallo has launched Cabana California Rosé, a UK‑targeted rosé wine developed specifically for British drinkers seeking a slightly sweeter, premium yet accessible style. The wine is positioned at £8.50 and aims to appeal to 25–40‑year‑old consumers who want quality, value and modern design.
Why Gallo created a rosé for the UK
The UK rosé category is growing fast. In fact, rosé is outperforming UK still wine in the off‑trade by 7.4 percentage points, with Californian rosé making up 2.2 million 9l cases — meaning one in every four bottles of rosé sold in the UK off‑trade comes from the US.
Because of this, Gallo identified an opportunity for a sweeter‑styled, premium‑positioned rosé tailored to British tastes. Moreover, younger consumers are increasingly drawn to approachable sweetness and stylish packaging, making the segment ripe for innovation.
What Cabana California Rosé offers UK drinkers
- Slightly sweeter profile — designed to deliver approachable sweetness without being cloying.
- Premium yet accessible positioning — priced at £8.50 to balance quality and value.
- Female‑skewed appeal — targeted at women aged 25–40 who prioritise style and taste.
- Californian origin — bringing a US flavour profile adapted for UK palates.
Head of sales Mark Stammers says the wine is “built for the UK rosé drinker” and is already resonating strongly with retailers and consumers.
Cabana California Rosé is rolling out nationwide across Tesco, ASDA, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s, plus more than 3,200 Premier stores via Booker. It is also appearing in bars and restaurants, ensuring visibility across multiple channels.
Additionally, Gallo is supporting the launch with a summer‑long integrated marketing campaign, including a partnership with TV personality Tasha Ghouri to tap into armchair travel trends.
The launch of this UK‑targeted rosé wine reflects a broader shift where British consumers increasingly want wines that feel stylish, taste slightly sweeter and offer good value. Consequently, Gallo’s tailored approach positions Cabana to drive growth in a category where younger drinkers are shaping demand.
