Grundfos has completed the acquisition of German water‑treatment specialist EUWA, a move that strengthens its position in the global beverage sector at a time when water efficiency, hygiene and resource management are becoming critical operational priorities for producers.

EUWA, a long‑established engineering company with installations in more than 110 countries, designs and delivers treatment systems for brewing and soft‑drink production. Its solutions span the full clean‑water cycle, from purification and process‑water conditioning to chemical and energy optimisation. This depth of process expertise — particularly in hygienic design — is central to the acquisition’s strategic value.

Tom Finke, head of water treatment at Grundfos, said EUWA’s “strong process know‑how and differentiated technology” will enhance Grundfos’ ability to solve complex water challenges for beverage customers. He emphasised the shared values between the two companies, particularly around sustainability and long‑term stewardship of water resources. EUWA director Michael Eumann echoed the sentiment, noting that the acquisition allows EUWA’s solutions to reach “even more customers around the world” while maintaining continuity for existing partners.

For the beverage industry, the timing is significant. Water stress, rising input costs and tightening hygiene requirements are reshaping production priorities. Producers are under pressure to reduce water footprints, minimise chemical use and improve energy efficiency — all while maintaining consistent product quality. As a result, integrated water‑treatment capability is becoming a competitive differentiator, not a background utility.

Grundfos’ acquisition signals a clear strategic shift: the company is building a comprehensive water‑treatment platform that goes beyond pumps and circulation systems, positioning itself as a full‑cycle partner for beverage manufacturers. The deal also follows a series of recent investments aimed at broadening Grundfos’ industrial offering, suggesting a sustained focus on water‑treatment innovation.

EUWA joins Grundfos with immediate effect, with both companies prioritising smooth integration and stability for customers, partners and employees. The combined expertise is expected to accelerate development of hygienic, efficient and low‑impact water systems tailored to beverage applications.

Water treatment is becoming strategically central to beverage production, and suppliers capable of delivering efficient, sustainable, end‑to‑end solutions are gaining influence as operational pressures intensify.
